Hockey Alberta Provincials history tracks back to when 28 champions were crowned in seven divisions; Senior, Intermediate, Junior, Juvenile, Midget, Bantam, and Peewee. The model would stay the same for the most part, as divisions and categories were tweaked over the years. Some information is missing from over the years, especially during the s, before computers that could save everything forever became a thing. After that, things would more or less stay the same. The philosophy of Minor Hockey Provincials in Alberta is that it is a competition for associations with like-sized Divisions competing their programs against one another.

Girls Hockey Calgary Association GHC is a minor hockey association that provides female hockey athletes residing in the City of Calgary an opportunity to play on all-female teams. GHC is home to the Jr. Inferno community teams and the Calgary Fire elite teams. As a city-wide association, GHC is able to accept registration of any female athlete living within the boundaries of Calgary Zone 9. Our Jr. Inferno community stream has more than 40 all-female teams from Timbits to Midget.
It is the highest level of minor hockey in the province. The league operates under the supervision of Hockey Manitoba. The league was founded in and provides elite hockey players in Manitoba the opportunity to play at a high level of competition. A number of players have gone to play in these leagues and the majority of Manitobans playing professional hockey have played in the 'AAA' league.
