All their creations are beautiful and yummy, but we fell in love with the creamy, feathery, exquisite shaved ice. This is not the "shaved ice" of our American childhood with ice topped with syrup. This is better described as snow ice: originally a Taiwan specialty, It's made by slicing frozen cream into lovely delicate folds, and often topped or accompanied by fresh fruits, milk, sauce and even ice cream. Snow ice is not intended to taste like regular ice cream; it's even lighter than gelato. The strawberry flavor was best, and we looked for this dish throughout our days in China. It was a little pricey but the portions are big. I'm surprised by some of the reviews: this cafe is on the Kowloon side and there is no gate unless you're talking about the kitchen door.
We LOVE shaved ice! - The Dessert Kitchen (Hau Fook)
If you are looking for a cool treat in HKG please stop here. Among other tradiitonal Asian sweet treats this shop serves a delicious dish of shaved milk ice. Do not confuse this with American ice milk or Taiwanese shaved ice.
My boyfriend and I loved this place! I wish I had been there longer to Great for instagram photos. Quite a small cafe so limited spacing, and often you are very close to the people next to you.
